A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

This was one of the best books I’ve read in a while. It was a fun story, but also a deep story. It was very cozy and really made me want a cup of tea. It’s nice to have a futuristic story about robots that’s wholesome and not all doom and gloom.

Resident Alien

Resident Alien

Resident Alien is one of my all time favorite television shows. It’s laugh-out-loud funny, and always leaves me in stitches. It’s also quite wholesome and makes you really think about the world in new ways. If I had the ability I would make everybody sit down and watch this show.

The Hill We Climb

The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman

You may recognize it as the poem read by Ms. Gorman during President Biden’s inaugural celebration.  I was moved to tears then, and just had to read and feel the words again.  Reading it myself wasn’t as powerful as listening to her recite it, but the meaning is still there.  Great inspiration and I’m in awe of such a young person’s wise observations.
The bright ages, a new history of medieval Europe

The Bright Ages: A New History of Medieval Europe by Matthew Gabriele

Most people associate the Middle Ages as “dark” and oppressive.  Although there was certainly oppression (and repression), there were also bright spots of equality, camaraderie and peace.  This book traces the evolution (not decline) of the Roman Empire, the rising power of the Church, and the sometimes uneasy/sometimes harmonious relationships between nobility and commoner.  It also explores the interesting development of the independent city-state, the role of the guilds (trade unions), and the enduring interconnection and multiculturalism of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia during this time.
