January Staff Picks

blog Book Displays Book recommendations

If you are looking for new reads for the new year, stop by the library and check out our Staff Picks display and our other book displays throughout the library. During the cold of winter, several of our staff members turned to the comforts of old favorites and classics. We also have some great recommendations for biographies of people with local ties. And of course, we have some great fiction recommendations. All of these are on the display all month on the first floor of the library and available to checkout with your library card.

hero of two worlds

Hero of Two Worlds by Mike Duncan

Explores the life of the Marquis de Lafayette, a Frenchman who has 36 American cities named after him, including our neighbor to the north. In his lifetime, Lafayette led a decisive victory over the British at the Battle of Yorktown during the American Revolution, and championed the rights of man during the radically violent French Revolution. Lafayette’s influence on the modern western world is unquestionably important, yet often overlooked.
