A Periodical Reminder

Dear article readers, this is your periodic reminder to check out the magazines and newspapers available here at the public library! We carry recent issues of such popular publications as “People”, “The New Yorker”, and “National Geographic”, plus newspapers both local and national.

We also stock specialty titles beyond the standard checkout counter fare, including large print versions of “Reader’s Digest”, “The New York Times” (Sundays only), and “Guideposts”. Discerning readers may enjoy such niche publications as “Fortean Times”, a magazine of unexplained supernatural phenomena, or the self-explanatory “Lighthouse Digest”.

Patrons invested in economics should head over to our business and finance resources table, which houses our copies of “Consumer Reports” and “Value Line”. These periodicals provide valuable product reviews and investment insight to help you spend your money wisely.

Most of these items can be checked out to take home just like normal library books, but you can also come in, sit down, and read the latest news right in the library anytime. Not convenient enough? You can access many of these titles and more through the INSPIRE database. There are also tons of popular magazines that can be checked out digitally on our Libby app.

If you prefer old news, our Local History and Genealogy department has newspapers and magazines dating back more than a hundred years! Explore the databases on our local history page or come in to use our microfilm machines to enjoy the most irrelevant, outdated local gossip on offer.

Want to keep up to date with the library? Subscribe to Wowbrary, our weekly newsletter for upcoming events and new additions to the collection! Simply type your email in the subscription box on the front page of our website and hit “submit”. Keep an eye out for our articles in the local newspapers, too. If you are reading this, congratulations, you have found an article! Future columns can be found wherever you’re seeing this, whether in the printed paper, the online edition, or under the blog tab on our website. Check back frequently for staff favorites, themed book recommendations, and other library news.
